In my humble opinion it is one of the most beautiful events when the entire country takes time out to gather with family and friends around an abundant meal simply to express thankfulness for all the good in life. Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday. In fact, I love it so much I try
to act like every day is Thanksgiving. No, I don’t ask my wife to cook a turkey dinner every day, though she is so amazing I’m sure she would if I asked! The food is of course special and perfect for the season. However, it is the gratitude that I make my best efforts to carry through each day.
Our ancestors are truly what Thanksgiving is about. Those who paved the way for the rest of us, like our families do are the ones to whom we really owe our thanks. On Thanksgiving Day I do like to imagine what that first Thanksgiving must have been like. It is, after all a celebration of our ancestors who came to this country and celebrated their first harvest here with the native Wampanoag Indians in 1621. We are still enjoying the fruits of their efforts nearly four hundred years after the fact.
I am eternally grateful for those who made this country possible. I express thanks for my blessings every single day. I actually say out loud what I am thankful for. I am so grateful for the precious wisdom I received from my grandparents and parents. The example they set showed me how to live a good life being of service to others. I am so deeply grateful for my wife, children and grandchildren. I am thankful for the work I do helping people become better savers and investors to improve their lives.
We all have so much to be thankful for. May you and your family enjoy the warmth and love that Thanksgiving represents. And may you and yours be forever blessed.
